has ended. I’m back on the mortal plane and Pursed Lips is www’d once again. (Thanks, Roger.) Because I’m not sure my RSS feed automatically updates itself for you (haven’t had time to inquire about that), you might want to check and see if you need to update the feed yourself. FYI: Diary to be ported to section12.com shortly. Now, on with the links…
I can’t help myself. I found it funny, especially after seeing the video footage this morning on television. (And just how long do you think it’ll before someone jumps on that footage and dubs a porn soundtrack over it?) Of course, the ironies that accompany Bush’s safari are too good to ignore. First, these were African bush elephants getting it on and that the safari vehicle almost hits a donkey during the excursion.
But what I really want to know is just what Colin Powell meant by “the elephants were on message.” What message? If it feels good, do it? Love the one you’re near? Why don’t we do it in the bush — and near the Bushes? Probably, though, the message has something to do with GOP virility and the size of their party dick.
As a final irony, elephants mounting up for an AIDS campaign is drawing some safe-sex fire. (Dateline: Bankok. Does it get any better than this?)
But have you noticed? Not one word about abstinence in any of this. Good.
Book lust: You’ll need to sign into ebay’s Mature Audiences section for this one (and why this book is listed here, I’ll never know; it should be in the antiquarian section), but this is what I’m lusting over this week: a four-volume set of Magnus Hirschfeld’s BILDER-LEXICON, Kulturgeschicte, Literatur und Kunst, Sexualwissenschaft. Editions of Hirschfeld’s works in any language don’t come up on ebay all that often so a German edition from the heyday of his Institute for Sexual Studies is something that curries my lust. But I didn’t hit Powerball this week so I’m still too poor to afford its $1,500.00 price tage. Oh well.
Another ebay curiosity has me wondering how this seller came across a huge inventory of three Blue Moon titles. Probably a liquidation sale, but if I were the authors of those works, I’d be pretty upset to see my royalty stream interrupted this way.
Come back tomorrow (yes, Saturday) for a link that deserves singular commentary.
