Forget the latest incantation of a vibrator, lotion, or strap-on. My newest sex toys are upholstered and yesterday they got put to the test. The sofa’s great for your more typical positions, shared napping, and “oral lounging” — you figure it out — while the loveseat’s perfect for getting upended over its back. So how was it? Well, let’s just say that I’m gonna have to get a can of Sc*tchg&#rd fabric protection real quick.
Speaking of which: I enjoyed stumbling across the Sex Toy Tales website. Discovering it was designed by long-time blogger, LMichelle, was an added plus.
Apparently, Paul Reubens has chosen to do in public what he couldn’t afford to do in court. Not only has he spoken enough to make a headline, but he’ll on be on tonight’s Dateline on NBC. Good for him. In these days of growing witch hunts, we need people brave enough to speak out. Note: Reubens wasn’t convicted of child pornography, only of the misdeanor charge of “possession of obscenity”. Yeesh, I’ve seen similar vintage erotica on ebay and in the ephemera market. So does that mean police are gonna start searching and arresting antique dealers? Also noteworthy: Where the city of Los Angeles chose to prosecute Reubens, the county took one look at the materials and flatly declined to follow suit.
Special thanks to the new aggregator, kinja, which included in their sex section. For all you readers who might be discovering me via various syndications, take note: If you blink, you could miss me. Unlike other bloggers who write each item as a separate entry, I prefer to do all my links in one fell swoop. Two reasons: One, it allows me to occasionally weave some storytelling into my blogging, which gives the blog an intimate, personalized flavor. Second, I’m a busy writer and one umbrella entry saves me time. With that in mind, welcome — and enjoy.
What a difference a decade makes: Showgirls re-evaluated and newly appreciated (and my fan adoration of Charles Taylor finds renewal as well). Worth your time.
I probably haven’t said this yet, but Richard Evans Lee is a compulsively busy (and I mean that in a nice way) blogger whose candid, reflective diary is a joy to read. Where he finds the energy to write such reflective matters, I don’t know, but I really enjoyed this entry about unrealized sexuality.
Last but not least: You never know where you’ll find Susie Bright. Scroll down to the February 26th episode of Doug Henwood’s radio show. Hey, radical sex — happens anywhere. Even on economics-and-politics shows.
Well, that’s enough for now. Next up: new books.
