Otherwise known as the shameless promotional plug.
Months back, I wrote about how personally valuable it is for me to write about queer issues. Then, I thanked Ian Philips and Greg Wharton for including me in their I Do/I Don’t anthology about marriage equality. Now, it’s time to congratulation Ian and Greg on an ultimate success: I Do/I Don’t won a Lammy in the nonfiction anothology category!
That’s a Lamda Literary Award, the queer publishing industry’s Oscar, handed out annually right before the big trade show, Book Expo America. Ian and Greg brought 138 of us together, we wrote in the spirit of altruism, and the result was a significant book of breadth that surprising covers every aspect of queer marriage. Congrats, guys – you deserve it!
A recent issue of Curve magazine singled out my story “Only a Women’s Touch” from Naughty Spanking Stories A to Z for mention. Sure is nice to know the dyke world gets it; my queer smut often leaves straight people scratching their heads. Thanks to Rachel, the book’s editor, for putting the blurb on her blog.
I must say 2005 is looking like a banner year with recent story contributions to a Renaissance eBook (possibly the darkest thing I’ve ever written), a Blue Moon title (finally!), and a retrospective anthology of the best stories from the annual Best Women’s Erotica. And that’s only what’s out now. There’s more in the pipeline.
Consider spending your hard earned money on these and other erotica titles, please. Always a marginalized endeavor, small press erotica needs your purchasing power.
(Group hug to all the editors who expressed faith in my work by committing to publishing it.)
Now, if I can just get this novel finished and sold…
