words adequate enough to send to London, but the first three people in my life besides my parents were Brits who met while on ambulance runs during the Blitz. I’ve written about them before* and when I see London now, it’s my love for them that I send to all of you on the other side of the pond. May you and your loved ones be safe. For those who worry and wait, know that many here care for you and about your plight.
* I seem to have deleted a longer essay from the server. I’ll try to rectify that later this month.
It’s also difficult to blog what I consider the latest important news in our sex culture wars, but I’m about to vacation and want to leave you with my take on two particular headlines.
First, about that male bisexuality study: Remember its source. Please. Bailey’s plenty controversial. Heck, I’ve written about him myself in the past. Everything that Bailey either authors or is authored under his aupices seems determined to peg all male bisexuals and MtF transsexualis as inherently gay. It’s as if Bailey’s trying to completely undermine the Kinsey scale and put all men in binary gay-or-straight columns. And with little research or regard for lesbians, female bisexuals, and FtM transsexuals.
I’m pleased, pleased, pleased that this July 4th the UCC denomination backs same sex marriage. It’s not going to be without discord and dissent; I suspect some churchs will leave the denomination, possibly mine. If that happens, I’ll transfer my membership elsewhere. And there’s no telling how same-sex marriages conducted within the church will play out against state law, whether DOMA or civil union or outright discrimination is on the books.
OK, off to pack. I’ll blog once or twice next week — probably about books since I expect to curl up with several.
