To all the Connecticut couples who sought out civil unions over the weekend. Connecticut’s ability to provide the avenue, while not as all-encompassing as actual marriage, is positive and forward-thinking. I’m proud to live in a state that cares about correcting inequity where it exists and provides expanded rights for its citizens.
If you have a Time magazine subscription, check out this article about gay teens. It’s pretty fascinating, well researched, and provides a look at a far more complex sense of self and sexuality than us elders might expect from teenagers. (If you don’t have a Time subsciption, consider this a print alert and head for your newsstands.)
Interesting: If Roe v. Wade is overturned, medical advances will likely allow women to circumvent legal restrictions. Amazingly, the drug under the spotlight, misoprostol, has already eliminated the economic barriers to ending an unwanted pregnancy in other parts of the world and its off-label use has immigrated to our shores.
Nonetheless, I’m spending time this week reading this article about the politicization of Plan B.
I stand corrected: A reader pointed out that Congress mandated the FBI porn squad. Therefore, I laid blame at the wrong feet last week. Fair article enough. I have no problem shifting blame to the correct source.
