When the FBI formed its porn squad, I waivered in wondering how strenuous the agency would go after porn. After all, it appeared that they were staffing only ten positions, so how vigorous a squad could they be? Well, plenty, it would seem.
They’ve raided Max Hardcore. And they’ve done the same with Red Rose Stories, a text-only site — and a move that’s startled a lot of industry folks. (Although why anyone would reportedly house sex-with-children stories on a site is beyond me.)
Remember how I mentioned that section 2257 prompted a lot of amateur file sharing to come to a massive halt on Yahoo’s adult groups? Well, that’s beginning to occur with website now. Mistress Midori has closed down her website, one that I expect was explicit but of artistic merit. A writer I know lost a plum, ongoing story assignment at a site that focused on enema stories and pictures closed down as well.
And, oh yes, let’s not forget the dude who invited American soldiers to post gruesome shots of Iraqi war deads in exchange for access to his porn site. He got arrested, too — but not over GI photos, but for obscenity stemming from the porn on his site.
Not good. And I wonder how long it’ll be before American porn goes off-shore.
Let’s hope that the deep pockets of the porn industry will aid the plaintives as they go to court and let’s hope that juries won’t see obscenity in examples presented to them in court. And maybe you should write to your Congressional representatives and tell them to leave your porn alone — and to use your tax dollars for better things.
FYI: You can find the best ongoing coverage of these matters at the Ynot website. Keep an eye on it, OK?
