Violet Blue. She’s secured a superb columnist gig at the San Francisco Chronicle and I’m certain she’ll shine at it. I’ve had the privilege to work with Violet on some of her erotic fiction collection and, like many sex writers who edit fiction, she brings an effusive enthusiasm, commitment, and energy to her projects. And her joy for sex is so contagious I’ve always come away from our professional interactions renewed and ready for more. (Sounds a lot like the effects of good sex itself, doesn’t it?)

But with my congratulations, I also send a key hope: With mainstream newspapers supposedly bleeding with existing subscribers, I hope that Violet will draw dedicated readers in such volume that it’ll figure prominently in keeping a major daily viable — and we’ll be able to say that a sexblogger saved the day!

Yes, I want sexbloggers to save the world. Let’s start with Violet, dear readers, OK?

A second hearty congratulations goes out to Lisa V and her new Cinekinkster blog. Meant to complement the daring annual CineKink film festival. Every October, the event focuses on sex-positive films of all kinds — kinks, orientations, whatever. I’m eagerly awaiting the event schedule, due out this month.

Scroll through Lisa’s blog and you’ll see an entry on This Film is Not Yet Rated. God only knows when I’ll have the opportunity to see — I’m far from living in a secondary market — but I can post a number of links about it from Salon (1, 2,), Wired, The NY Times,The Onion’s A.V Club, and my obligatory Google news search. If you’re in a primo market, be sure to see this documentary. Become aware of
the process behind movie ratings — and how it punishes consensual adult content.
